This former barbershop was bought by a developer on 09/13/2007 for $300,000. The developer's presentation at the ANC2f meeting on 1/9/2008 was very encouraging and I wish them luck.
It should be noted that the building is in horrible condition due to the negligence of the previous owners and the city government's inaction. Remarkably, it is not listed as vacant by OTR or DCRA. The current owner is entitled to an exemption though.

Any details re: the presentation (design-wise, addition or tenant contemplated)?
The prelim design is mixed use with commercial below and residential above.
I'm the broker that represented the current buyer. The developer is also an architect who is very sensitive to the existing historic architecture.
Not sure where the $300k number came from(?) That's a ways off. (Hey wait, if I got my client THAT good a deal...)
The $300,000 number is what was posted on OTR online. I'm not surprised that the true figure is more. By the way, I asked the developer during the ANC meeting what he paid and several commissioners acted like I had just asked him what his religion was. "How could I be so rude!" Sale prices are public record.
I went by this building on Saturday--they have demo'd the old carriage house in the back & left only the front facade--I saw the permit for retail use, but didn't see anything regarding multi-family--has this project switched to just retail?
